Is broccoli good for thyroid people?

My cousin has a thyroid problem, and she's always careful about her food choices. She asked me if broccoli is good for people with thyroid issues, but I wasn't sure what to tell her. Could you please clarify?

Yes, but only if it is well-cooked. Raw broccoli can sometimes interfere with thyroid function.

At this point, half the vegetables in my fridge are supposedly bad for my thyroid according to the internet. Just cook the broccoli properly to destroy the goitrogens and enjoy your meal in peace.

My mom has thyroid and her doctor said cooked broccoli is totally fine, just avoid raw salads. So don't stress, just steam it or toss it in some oil before eating.

The goitrogens in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli can reduce thyroid hormone production, but cooking deactivated them by up to 90%. Keep your portions moderate and track your thyroid profile every 3 months.

I manage both diabetes and thyroid, so I have to be very careful. Cooked broccoli is great because it has a low glycemic index and doesn't affect my sugar, while still being safe for my thyroid in small cooked portions.
