Is breast cancer a hereditary disease?

My mother's elder sister was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. Now my mother is worried for me and my younger sister. She keeps asking if it can pass on to us.

While some cases are hereditary, many are not. Please don't worry too much and consult a doctor if you want to understand your family risk better.

My doctor mentioned that only about 5 to 10 percent of breast cancers are actually hereditary, often linked to BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutations. If there is a strong family history, genetic counseling is highly recommended.

Har baar yeh khandaani nahi hota hai, beta. Agar ghar mein kisi ko tha, toh thoda savdhan rehna chahiye aur doctor babu se jaanch karwa leni chahiye.

It can be hereditary in some families, like certain genes are. Just like I monitor my BP, it is wise to keep track of your family medical history and discuss it with your physician during annual screenings.

Keep your mind peaceful and positive. Only a small percentage of cases come from family genes, so live happily and just do your routine medical checkups with faith.
