Is bp normal during heart attack?

A friend's father had a heart attack and he said his BP was actually normal during it. Is it possible for blood pressure to be normal even when someone is having a heart attack? I thought it would always be very high or low.

I totally get it, you'd think a heart attack would always show up on a BP machine first. But actually, my uncle had perfectly normal blood pressure when he had his attack. It is very tricky, so if you are feeling any chest pain or breathlessness, please don't wait and go straight to the doc.

Yes, blood pressure can actually be completely normal during a heart attack. My cardiologist friend explained that a heart attack is a plumbing issue (blockage in arteries), whereas BP is about the pressure in the system. So a normal BP reading should never be used to rule out an ongoing cardiac arrest if other symptoms exist.

Yes, absolutely. Normal BP can happen during a heart attack, so never ignore chest pain based on a normal machine reading.

Yes, blood pressure can sometimes stay in the normal range during an attack. Please don't let a normal reading delay you from getting help if you are feeling unwell. Praying for your good health.

Even with a healthy vegetarian diet and normal daily blood pressure, a sudden cardiac event can occur where the BP remains normal. Please do not assume everything is fine just because the BP monitor shows a normal range. If there is pain or discomfort, consult a doctor immediately.

Yes, it is entirely possible to have a normal BP during a heart attack. Symptoms like jaw pain, left arm pain, heavy sweating, and chest pressure are much more reliable indicators than a blood pressure reading. Always trust the symptoms and seek emergency medical care immediately.
