Is barley bad for diabetics?
My doctor recently diagnosed me with type 2 diabetes. I'm trying to figure out which grains are safe for me. I often eat barley, so I'm wondering, is barley bad for diabetics, or is it actually a healthy choice?

Barley? I've mostly had it in soups or those fancy health drinks. For diabetics, I always thought complex carbs are better than simple sugars. So, logically, barley should be okay, right? It's not like a dessert!
No, barley is generally not bad for diabetics; in fact, it's often recommended. It's a whole grain with a low glycemic index and high fiber content, which helps in slow sugar release and better blood sugar control. However, portion size is still important.
Barley is actually a really good complex carb. High in fiber, low GI, so it's excellent for sustained energy and good for blood sugar control, which is important for diabetics. Definitely a better choice than refined grains. Incorporate it in your meals!
Barley? Like, in those healthy drinks? Nah, I don't think it's bad. My mom makes barley water sometimes, says it's good for you. For diabetics, I guess it's better than like, white rice or something super processed.
Humare zamane mein toh jau (barley) ko bahut sehatmand mana jata tha. Even for those with sugar, doctors would recommend it sometimes. It's a natural grain. As long as you don't add sugar or too much oil while cooking, it should be fine in moderation, I feel.
