Is autoimmune hepatitis disease contagious?

Someone in my family has autoimmune hepatitis, and I am worried about it spreading to others. I just wanted to confirm, is autoimmune hepatitis considered a contagious disease? Should we be taking precautions?

I recently managed to get my liver enzymes back to normal after a rough phase. I can assure you it is absolutely not contagious. It's just my own body attacking itself, so my family was never at any risk.

Hey, don't stress too much about this! It is definitely not contagious, so you can't catch it from anyone. Just focus on being there for whoever is dealing with it.

No, it is not contagious at all. I have been managing it for years. My best tip is to strictly stick to your doctor's immune-suppressing medicines and never stop them suddenly, as that can cause a severe flare-up.

I was also wondering about this because the name hepatitis is usually linked with infections. Since it is not contagious, does that mean it doesn't require any isolation or separate utensils at all?

No, it is not contagious. My doctor explained that while viral hepatitis (like Hep B or C) is infectious, autoimmune hepatitis is purely genetic and environmental, causing the immune system to misidentify liver cells as foreign.

I was actually researching this online because the word hepatitis sounds so scary. Turns out, since it's 'autoimmune', it's just the body's internal confusion and is completely non-infectious.

It is not contagious at all, so please do not worry. Keep your mind peaceful, stay positive, and take care of your body with pure food and proper medication. God bless.

No, it is not contagious, so please relax. My aunt has this, and she lives normally with all of us. Just ensure they get regular checkups and eat clean, healthy home-cooked food.

It is not contagious because it is an autoimmune issue, not viral. But please don't trust random blogs or WhatsApp forwards saying you can cure this with herbs. Only consult a qualified gastroenterologist for treatment.

It is not contagious. If you or a family member has it, focus on managing your calendar for regular blood tests and doctor appointments. Keep it practical, take meds on time, and carry on with your work.
