Is atorvastatin bad for your liver?

I've been taking atorvastatin for my cholesterol for some years now, but my neighbour told me that these statin medicines can be bad for the liver. I'm a bit worried now. Is atorvastatin really harmful for the liver in the long run?

It can sometimes affect liver enzymes, but it's very rare for it to cause serious damage! Just keep doing your routine blood tests as advised by your doctor to stay safe.

My father was just prescribed this and I am a bit worried. Is it true that we have to do liver tests every few months while taking atorvastatin? If anyone else is taking it, please let me know.

Atorvastatin is generally safe, but it can occasionally raise liver enzyme levels. For your safety, you must get regular Liver Function Tests (LFT) done. Always let your doctor analyze the reports.

Don't panic. Millions of people take atorvastatin safely every day. Your doctor will simply ask for a routine liver test after a few weeks to be sure it suits you. Just follow their lead and take care.

I totally get it, worrying about medication side effects is so stressful. But atorvastatin is crucial for heart health, and doctors usually monitor your liver closely to make sure everything is safe. Don't worry too much.

While taking such strong modern medicines, one must be careful. I drink warm lemon water in the morning to support digestion, but you must strictly follow your cardiologist's advice regarding liver checks.
