Is asthma deadly?

My husband has had asthma for many years, and sometimes his breathing becomes very difficult. It makes me wonder about the seriousness of it. Is asthma deadly?

It's only deadly if you act too heroic and ignore your symptoms during a heavy pollution day. Just use your inhalers on time and keep your doctor happy, and you'll survive just fine like the rest of us.

Oh god, even reading the word 'deadly' gives me a panic attack! Please don't worry, millions of people have asthma and they are totally fine. Just keep your doctor's emergency contact saved on your phone for peace of mind.

Haan na, log darr jaate hain, par ye deadly nahi hai agar hum dhyan rakhein toh. Bas time pe inhaler lena zaroori hai aur dhool-mitti se thoda bachna padta hai.

It rarely becomes deadly if you track your symptoms properly. I use a health app to monitor my peak flow readings and set reminders for my daily inhaler doses, which keeps my lung health completely in check.

I am too tired from my late-night shifts to worry about this being deadly. Just pack your inhaler in your bag, take your puffs when the chest feels tight, and go back to sleep. It's totally manageable.
