Is asthma an immune disease?

I've heard discussions about immune system problems being linked to asthma. Does this imply that asthma is an immune disease? I'm trying to figure out the root cause for my persistent cough.

Oh god, I used to worry so much that asthma meant my whole immune system was weak or damaged! But actually, it's just that the immune response in the airways is hyper-sensitive to triggers like dust. It is very manageable, so please don't stress like I did.

Don't blindly trust online forums claiming it's a major immune system failure or that some herbal drink can cure it. It is an immune-mediated chronic inflammation of the airways. Get proper advice and diagnostic tests from a registered pulmonologist.

Well, my immune system seems to get over-excited by even a speck of dust these days! It's an immune-mediated inflammatory condition, yes. Just keep your inhaler close and enjoy the ride, that is the only way.

No need to worry, it is not an immune deficiency disease. It just means your airways react strongly to external triggers because of a hyper-sensitive immune response. Keep taking your preventer inhaler, and you'll be absolutely fine.

My health tracker app articles say it is an immune-mediated inflammatory disease, specifically involving an overreaction to environmental triggers. Tracking your symptoms alongside pollen count or air quality index can really help you stay ahead of flare-ups.
