Is applesauce good for diabetics?

My husband has diabetes, and we are always looking for healthy snacks for him. I sometimes make applesauce at home without added sugar. Is this generally considered a good option for diabetics, or should we avoid it?

My granddad has diabetes, and his doc told him to be super careful with applesauce. If it's unsweetened and homemade, in small portions, maybe okay. But the stuff you buy from stores? Forget it, too much sugar. Better to just eat a whole apple, you get the fiber too.

For diabetics, maintaining stable blood sugar is key. Applesauce, especially the sweetened varieties, can cause sugar spikes because the fiber is broken down, leading to quicker absorption of sugars. A whole apple is always preferable for its intact fiber. Always check your glucose levels after consuming anything new, and keep up with your walks!

Unsweetened applesauce in moderation might be okay, but whole apples are generally better for diabetics due to the fiber content.

Yaar, actually, applesauce for diabetics needs a lot of care. If it's the store-bought kind, most of them are full of sugar, which is super bad. Even if it's unsweetened, it's still pureed fruit without the full fiber of a whole apple, so sugar can spike. Better to eat a whole apple, that's what my dietitian told me.

Haan, applesauce achha ho sakta hai, but usme cheeni bilkul nahi honi chahiye. Agar ghar pe banaya hai bina sugar ke toh thoda le sakte ho. Lekin market waala toh bilkul avoid karna. Doctor ne bhi bola hai ki poora apple khaao, juice ya sauce se better hai, kyuki fiber milta hai na.

As someone managing diabetes for over a decade, I can tell you applesauce is a tricky one. The key is *unsweetened* and in *small portions*. Most store-bought options are loaded with added sugars, which is a big no for diabetics. Eating a fresh apple is always the best bet as it provides the fiber that helps regulate blood sugar. Always monitor your levels.
