Is a stroke a cerebral infarction?

My friend had a stroke and the doctor used the term 'cerebral infarction'. I'm trying to understand what that means in simple terms. Is a stroke the same thing as a cerebral infarction?

Okay, so essentially, an ischemic stroke (which is the most common type) *is* a cerebral infarction. It means a part of the brain tissue dies because it doesn't get enough blood flow, usually due to a clot. So yes, you can think of it that way, a brain 'heart attack' if you will, but in the brain.

Yes, from what I understand, when a stroke happens because blood flow is blocked and part of the brain is damaged, that is called a cerebral infarction. It's a very serious medical condition.

A stroke that's caused by a blockage, where brain tissue dies, is indeed a cerebral infarction. This is exactly why maintaining good blood circulation through exercise, like regular walks and a healthy diet, is so critical. Keeps those vessels clear and strong.

Oh god, yes, a cerebral infarction sounds so scary, and that's basically what a stroke is when a clot blocks blood flow. It just makes me so anxious thinking about all the things that can go wrong with our bodies. But it's good to know the terms, it helps us understand what's happening and how serious it is.

For the most common type of stroke, the ischemic one, yes, it's called a cerebral infarction. It means part of the brain gets damaged because of lack of blood. My child's doctor explained it like that after his condition. It's important to know so you understand the treatment and recovery better.
