Is a kidney ultrasound internal or external?

My doctor recommended a kidney ultrasound for my father because of some abdominal pain. I'm a bit worried about it. Is it one of those tests where they put the probe inside, or is it done from the outside, like a regular sonography?

A kidney ultrasound is almost always external only. They put some gel on your stomach area and move the transducer over it. It's quite simple and non-invasive, no need to worry. Done it twice for my general checkup.

I was really worried before my kidney ultrasound, thinking it would be uncomfortable. But it was just external, they put gel on my belly. It's totally okay to feel anxious about medical tests, but this one is pretty straightforward. You'll be fine.

Don't trust any random information you get online without verification. For a kidney ultrasound, it's typically external. But for any medical procedure, always ask your doctor or the lab directly. They will give you accurate details and preparation instructions, not anonymous internet strangers.

From my experience, kidney ultrasounds are always done externally. They just move the machine over your tummy and back. It doesn't hurt at all, just feels a bit cold with the gel. Don't worry, it's a very common and simple test.

A kidney ultrasound is generally external. However, for any medical procedure, it is crucial to confirm with the performing technician or your doctor beforehand. They can provide specific details about your particular case. Always prioritize safety and accurate information from medical professionals.

Hey! Don't stress too much about it, kidney ultrasounds are external. They just put a cool gel on your skin and use a small device. It's totally painless and non-invasive. Super quick also. You'll be in and out in no time!
