Is a cluster headache a migraine?

My brother has been getting these really intense headaches behind one eye lately, and he mentioned his doctor called them 'cluster headaches'. Someone told me they're just a type of migraine, but he says they're different. Is a cluster headache a migraine, actually?

I totally understand how terrifying this pain can be, especially when you are trying to search what it is. No, they are actually different types of headaches, though both are incredibly painful. Please take a deep breath, you are not alone in feeling anxious about this.

Nahi bhaiya, dono alag alag bimari hain. Cluster wala dard bohot tej hota hai aur aankh ke paas hota hai, jabki migraine alag hota hai. Aap bilkul chinta mat karo, bas achhe se aaram karo aur thoda thanda paani piyo.

No, they are distinct medical issues, and cluster headaches can be exceptionally severe. Please don't self-diagnose or try random painkillers at home. Get it checked by a neurologist to get the right treatment safely.

No, they are different conditions even though both cause severe head pain. A doctor can easily diagnose which one you have.

I am new here and don't know much, but I read that they are not the same. Does a cluster headache also make you feel nauseous like a migraine does, or is the pain just different?

Actually, while both are primary headache disorders, their treatment lines are quite different. Cluster headaches occur in cycles and are incredibly sharp, whereas migraines have different triggers like light and sound sensitivity. Consulting a specialist is your best bet to get targeted relief.
