Is 99.3 a fever for an infant?

My infant seems unusually warm today. I took his temperature and it's 99.3. Is this reading considered a fever for an infant?

Hey! Don't worry too much, 99.3 is usually just a mild warmth, not a real fever for tiny babies. Just keep them in comfortable cotton clothes and keep nursing them. ❤️ Let the doc know if they seem fussy though!

Hello, I am still learning about baby care and got really scared when my nephew showed a similar reading. Actually, is 99.3 considered completely normal, or does it mean we should monitor them every hour? I hope your baby feels better soon.

For small infants, we usually sponge their forehead gently with normal room-temperature water, never cold water. But please remember that if the baby is under 3 months old, even a slight temperature needs a proper pediatrician checkup. Don't try home remedies alone if they look dull.

My three-month-old had 99.3 just last week after his vaccination. I was so stressed but the pediatrician said it is just a low-grade rise, not a proper fever. We just kept him hydrated with breastmilk and his temperature came back to normal by night.

In infants, normal body temperature can fluctuate easily if the room is warm or they are wearing too many layers. 99.3 is just borderline, so unwrap any heavy blankets first and check again in thirty minutes. If it climbs or if they are not feeding well, take them to the clinic.
