I don't know much about babies, but I heard newborn temperatures are very sensitive. Is 99.1 normal if they are wrapped in too many blankets? Should we unwrap them and check again after some time?

Yes, for a newborn, even a small rise like 99.1 needs attention. It is always better to consult your pediatrician immediately.

With newborns, we have to be very practical and cautious, no home remedies should be tried. Sometimes they just get warm because of heavy woolen clothes or swaddling. Try taking off one layer of clothing and check the temperature again in 20 minutes.

Going to the clinic for every small doubt can really add up with those high consultation fees. But for newborns, saving money on doctor visits is risky. It is better to have a digital thermometer at home and call the clinic first to see if a visit is actually required.

Please do not ignore this or wait for it to go up. My baby had a sudden spike from a mild temperature, and it turned into a serious infection very quickly. For newborns under 3 months, any variation means an immediate call to the pediatrician.

Newborns are so delicate yaar, even 99.1 makes us super tense. Actually, their bodies can't regulate heat properly early on. Just check if the room is too hot or if they are over-dressed, but definitely ping your doc.

I log my baby's vitals on a tracking app, and usually newborn baseline temperature is slightly higher, but 99.1 is bordering on elevated. Track it every 1-2 hours and note down if they are feeding properly and wetting enough diapers to show the pediatrician.
