Is 5mm kidney stone large?

My uncle just found out he has a kidney stone, and the doctor mentioned it's 5mm. He's a bit worried, so I wanted to ask, is a 5mm kidney stone considered large or something that needs urgent attention?

A 5mm stone is actually considered small to medium, and you don't need to worry too much. I had a similar one and managed to pass it by drinking barley water (jau ka paani) and lots of coconut water daily. Keep yourself hydrated and it should slide out naturally.

Beta, 5mm is not very large, so don't lose sleep over it. Usually, stones up to 5-6mm have a very good chance of passing through urine without surgery. Just make sure you are drinking plenty of water and avoiding too much tomato or spinach for a few weeks.

Bhaiyya, 5mm ka pathri chhota hi hota hai, ghabrane ki bilkul baat nahi hai. Hamare yahan log bhuna hua bhutta aur khub sara paani peekar isse nikal dete hain. Aap bas doctor babu se ek baar dawa likhwa lijiye.

My father was recently diagnosed with a 5mm stone and we are all a bit scared. Does a stone of this size cause a lot of pain when it passes out? Should we consult a specialist immediately or wait for some days?

Honestly, 5mm is pretty standard and not considered 'large' in medical terms. Most doctors will just put you on some alkalizing syrup and ask you to flush it out with 3 liters of water a day. Just get a urologist's opinion to be safe.

Arre yaar, 5mm ka stone koi bada nahi hota, aaram se nikal jata hai. Faltu me darna band karo aur din me kam se kam 10-12 glass paani peena shuru karo. Agar zyada dard ho toh seedha doctor ke paas jao, bas.

Please don't take even a 5mm stone lightly. I had one of the same size that got stuck in my ureter and caused a severe kidney infection, requiring a minor procedure. If you feel any sharp pain in your back or side, go to a doctor immediately.

A 5mm stone is quite manageable. Along with drinking adequate water, practicing gentle yoga poses like Pawanmuktasana and deep pranayama can help relax your pelvic muscles. This relaxation makes it much easier for the stone to pass without severe spasms.

In my 70 years, I have seen many family members get kidney stones. A 5mm stone is small enough that you can easily flush it out with simple hydration. Don't worry, just keep drinking water and have faith, it will pass.

I know how terrifying it is to see the word 'stone' on your medical report, it literally kept me awake all night. But 5mm is actually on the smaller side. Just take a deep breath, call your doctor, and let them guide you through the next steps.

A 5mm stone is technically small, but I always worry if it can suddenly grow bigger or block something inside. To be safe, maybe you should get a repeat scan after a few weeks? Keep drinking water just in case to keep it moving.

I absolutely panicked when my ultrasound report showed a 5mm stone, thinking I would need surgery! But my doctor laughed and said it is very common and small. He just gave me some pain relief tablets and a syrup, and it passed in 10 days. Relax, you will be fine.
