How to wet wrap eczema?

My skin has been really itchy and inflamed lately because of my eczema, especially at night. Someone mentioned 'wet wrapping' can help, but I don't know how to do it properly.

We used to do this for my son when his skin was very red and dry years ago. First, apply a thick layer of a gentle moisturizer or whatever ointment your doctor gave. Then wrap the area with a clean, damp cotton cloth, and put a dry cloth over it to lock the moisture.

Since I have diabetes, skin infections can become serious quickly, so I am very cautious. If you are wet wrapping, ensure the skin isn't broken or weeping, as wrapping open wounds can trap bacteria. Always check with your dermatologist first.

While wet wrapping helps cool down skin irritation externally, keeping your internal system clean is also important. I avoid highly processed foods and fermented items when my skin flares up. Make sure the cotton bandages you use for wet wrapping are absolutely clean.

I know how incredibly frustrating and exhausting it is to deal with constant eczema itching at night. Wet wrapping really helped soothe my skin so I could sleep. Just use lukewarm water for the damp layer, as hot water will make the itch much worse.

Wet wrapping is actually a lifesaver during bad flare-ups! Just take a quick bath, apply your moisturizer immediately while skin is damp, and wrap with a slightly damp cotton gauze. Keep the wrap on for a few hours or overnight to let it heal.
