How to wake someone up from deep sleep?

My husband is a very deep sleeper and sometimes I need to wake him up for an emergency or if he's missed his alarm. What's the best way to gently but effectively wake someone up from a really deep sleep?

Waking someone suddenly can cause a brief period of confusion or grogginess, which is quite normal. Try calling them in a normal voice or opening the curtains to let natural light do the work gradually.

It is always best to do it gently so they don't wake up with a sudden startle. Call their name softly and turn on a dim light first. You can also lightly touch their shoulder to reassure them.

A gentle approach is best for their nervous system. You can play some soft music or ambient sounds in the room. This coaxes the mind out of deep rest in a very peaceful way.

In our old days, we used to slowly open the windows to let the morning air and birds' sounds wake children up. It is not good to shake anyone vigorously. Let them transition slowly.

Honestly, the smell of freshly brewed filter coffee is the only thing that wakes me from deep sleep. For others, try calling their name repeatedly. Just don't shake them too hard unless it is an emergency!

Aise jhatke se mat uthana, haan? Call their name softly or just shake their shoulder gently, na. It takes a couple of minutes for them to come out of deep sleep anyway.

I know how stressful it can look when someone is sleeping so deeply that they don't respond. Just take a deep breath. Speak to them in a calm, soothing voice and they will wake up safely.
