How to use onions for fever?

My son has a high fever for the last two days, and it's not going down much with medicines. My mother-in-law suggested using onions as a home remedy. How can I use onions for fever, like which part and how to apply?

My mother used to put sliced raw onions on my soles and tie them with a cloth when I had a mild fever as a kid. It felt cooling and comforting at that time, but I really cannot say if there is any scientific backing to it. I only do it as a soothing ritual when I have a common cold.

Some old folks suggest placing sliced onions in socks or rubbing onion juice on the feet to lower body temperature. While these mild home remedies can be comforting, a high fever or persistent body aches must be checked by a doctor immediately. Please don't rely only on onion tips if the temperature is rising.

Honestly, using onions to cure a fever is just an old wives' tale with no real medical basis. If you have a fever, use a cold compress on your forehead and take a paracetamol after consulting a doc. Let's not complicate simple infections with messy home remedies that don't actually work.

Beta, in our village, we sometimes rub a little warm onion juice on the chest and feet during a cold or mild fever to give some relief. It helps you sweat it out and feel lighter. But if the body is burning up, please go to the hospital quickly and take proper medicine.

I haven't heard of onions actually curing a fever, but staying hydrated with warm onion broth can give you some electrolytes. When I have a very mild temperature, I try to rest fully, but if the doctor permits, a light walk inside the house helps blood circulation. Do not exert yourself if the fever is high though.

Look, keeping onion slices in your socks is not going to cure your infection. It just makes your feet smell bad. If you have a fever, get a thermometer, monitor the reading, and visit a general physician. Keep onions for your kitchen and use proper science for your health.

There are many traditional practices involving onions for fever, but none of them are scientifically proven to kill pathogens. It is best to treat fever as a symptom of an underlying issue. Please consult a qualified doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan rather than relying on home remedies.
