How to use ir thermometer for fever?

My wife bought an IR thermometer for ghar pe, but I'm finding it a bit tricky to use accurately, especially when checking for fever. What's the proper technique to ensure I get a reliable temperature reading?

Don't worry, these devices are very easy to use once you get the hang of it. Just wipe any sweat or hair off the forehead first. If you still feel the reading is wrong because the forehead is cold, you can also take a reading on the inside of the wrist.

Hey, it's pretty simple. Just point it at the middle of the forehead, keep a gap of about two fingers, and press the trigger. Just make sure the person hasn't just come inside from the hot sun, or the reading will be way off.

Measuring body temperature gently is important. Let the sick person sit quietly for five minutes so their energy settles before you take the reading. Point the thermometer calmly at the center of the forehead, between the eyebrows.

Some cheap IR thermometers sold online are completely useless and show different readings every second. If someone has a high fever, don't rely blindly on these gadgets. Verify with a standard digital thermometer and consult a real doctor.

I just recovered from a bad viral fever last week. We noticed that if I was sweating, the IR thermometer showed 97 when I actually had a 101 fever. Always pat dry the skin with a towel before taking the reading.

Hey, don't stress too much about getting the exact decimal point! Just hold the gun straight, about 3-5 cm away from the forehead, and click. If it shows above 100 degrees, just give them some rest and check with a doctor, okay?

For the best accuracy with an IR thermometer, ensure the device is kept in the same room as the patient for 10 minutes so it adjusts to the room temperature. Avoid measuring directly under an air conditioner vent as it alters the skin surface temperature.

Honestly, I don't trust these things 100%. Whenever my mom feels sick, I use the IR gun for a quick check, but if it shows anything close to a fever, I always double-check with the old digital under-arm thermometer just to be absolutely sure.

If you've just finished a workout or a run, your skin temperature will be elevated. Wait at least 20-30 minutes for your body to cool down to its baseline before using an IR thermometer, otherwise you'll get a false high reading.

When my little nephew had a fever, he wouldn't sit still for a normal thermometer. The IR one was a lifesaver! We just clicked it from a few inches away while he was sleeping. It's so practical for kids.
