How to use asthma puffer?

I'm new to using an asthma puffer and want to ensure I'm getting the medication effectively. Can someone provide clear instructions on how to use it? I'm worried about wasting doses.

Modern asthma puffers are pretty intuitive, but technique is everything. Many apps now have visual guides. Shake it, breathe out fully, then seal your lips around the mouthpiece, press the canister while taking a slow, deep breath, and hold for 10 seconds. Check your peak flow readings if you track them, to see the improvement!

I always get so nervous about using my puffer, especially if I'm really breathless. Does anyone else feel like they're not inhaling fast enough, or that the medicine isn't going into their lungs properly? I keep wondering if I need to do it again. It's a worry.

While my focus is usually on managing my diabetes through diet and exercise, for something like an asthma puffer, direct medical advice is paramount. Don't rely on general tips. The correct dosage and technique are vital for your breathing. Always consult your doctor on this.

I make sure my breathing exercises are on point, and for the puffer, the same discipline applies. Shake it, empty lungs, deep slow breath while pressing, then hold. If your doctor allows, some light walking can also improve lung capacity, but only if your asthma is well-controlled with your puffer.

The asthma puffer. My morning ritual. Shake, puff, inhale, hold... and then try not to choke! It's like a mini-workout for your lungs, but less fun than yoga. Just remember to rinse your mouth after, or you'll taste medicine for hours. Ugh.

When it comes to something as important as an asthma puffer, my advice is always to go back to a good hospital or your specialist. Ask your doctor or the nurse to demonstrate it to you clearly, until you are absolutely confident. Don't hesitate to ask for a re-demonstration.
