How to use a tens unit for lower back pain?

My doctor recommended a TENS unit for my chronic lower back pain. I've got the device, but I'm unsure about where exactly to place the pads and what intensity to set it at. Any guidance on using it for effective pain relief?

A TENS unit can be a cost-effective way to manage lower back pain, especially if physical therapy costs are high. Make sure to place the pads correctly around the painful area, usually on either side. Start with a low intensity and increase it gradually until you feel a comfortable tingling sensation. Don't overuse it to save on battery life, and always follow the user manual.

I really regret ignoring my back pain for too long. If you're using a TENS unit, place the pads on clean, dry skin, typically on either side of the painful area on your lower back. Start with a low intensity and gradually increase it. But please, don't just rely on this; get it checked by a doctor to find the root cause of the pain.

I totally get how frustrating lower back pain can be! A TENS unit can offer good relief. The key is proper pad placement – usually around the area of pain, making sure they're not too close. Start with a gentle setting and increase until it's comfortable but effective. It's not a cure, but it definitely helps manage the pain in the short term.

While TENS units can provide temporary pain relief, it is crucial to use them correctly and under guidance. Always consult a physiotherapist or doctor to determine the appropriate pad placement and intensity for your specific lower back pain. Improper use can be ineffective or even counterproductive. Get it checked to ensure safe and effective treatment.

I've heard about TENS units for back pain, but I'm a bit unsure. So, you just stick those pads on your skin? And how do you know where exactly to put them for lower back pain? Does it feel like a buzzing?
