How to treat severe asthma?

I've been having really bad asthma attacks lately, even with my regular inhaler. It feels like my severe asthma is getting worse. What kind of treatments are there for severe asthma?

With severe asthma, you cannot rely only on rescue inhalers; you absolutely need regular preventer inhalers as prescribed by a pulmonologist. Keep your home free from dust, wash your bedsheets in hot water weekly, and always keep a spacer with your inhaler for better drug delivery. Regular follow-ups with your doctor are a must.

I completely understand that terrifying feeling of not being able to draw a full breath, it is so exhausting and emotionally draining. Living with severe asthma makes you constantly anxious about the next attack. Please know your feelings are totally valid, and finding a supportive pulmonologist who listens to you makes a huge difference.

Lately, even with my regular daily inhalers, I've been waking up in the middle of the night gasping for breath. Does anyone else get super anxious that their asthma is getting worse or that their controller meds have stopped working? I am really scared of having a sudden severe attack.

If your doctor allows, doing very gentle, low-intensity indoor walking can help maintain your cardiovascular health without triggering your airways. Always keep your rescue inhaler in your pocket during any physical activity and stop immediately if you feel tight. Safe movement is good, but your doctor's green light is essential.

Hey, I know severe asthma is super tough to live with, but don't stress too much, we can manage this. Just make sure you take your daily preventer dose without fail and keep your emergency inhaler handy. Avoid cold drinks and dust, and call your doctor whenever you feel things are getting heavy, okay?

Managing severe chronic issues is so challenging, and as someone who struggles with PCOS, I know how hard it is when your body feels out of control. I don't know the exact medical treatment for severe asthma, but I highly support seeing a top specialist rather than trying to self-manage. Sending you lots of strength.
