How to treat pain on top of foot?

For the past few weeks, I've had this annoying pain on the top of my foot, especially when I wear closed shoes or walk a lot. It's not from an injury, just started suddenly. What are some common ways to treat pain on the top of the foot?

I had a similar pain on the top of my foot after wearing very tight formal shoes for a long wedding event. Resting the foot and switching to comfortable, wide-fitting sandals with good arch support is what worked for me.

Oh, foot pain can be so worrying, especially if it makes it hard to walk or stand. Please be careful and don't put too much pressure on it, as it could be a hair-line fracture. It is better to get an X-ray done to be absolutely sure.

First, check if your shoe laces are tied too tightly, as this is a common cause of top-foot pain. Give your foot some rest, apply an ice pack for 10 minutes, and use comfortable footwear before spending on expensive doctor visits.

You can try a gentle warm water soak with a spoonful of rock salt to relax the foot muscles. However, if the pain is severe, accompanied by swelling, or if you cannot bear weight on it, please see an orthopedic doctor immediately.

I had this too and keeping my foot elevated on a pillow whenever sitting down helped reduce the throbbing pain significantly.

I hope your foot feels better soon. Please rest it as much as possible and consult a general physician if the pain doesn't subside in a couple of days.
