How to treat ocular migraine?

Sometimes, I get these strange visual disturbances, like flashing lights, followed by a headache, which my doctor called an ocular migraine. It's quite scary when it happens. What are the ways to treat ocular migraine, maybe to prevent or lessen the attacks?

I once ignored sudden vision changes thinking it was just a normal headache, but it can be risky. You must see an eye specialist or neurologist immediately to confirm it is actually an ocular migraine and not a retinal issue.

When I sense the visual aura starting, I immediately sit in a quiet, dark room and practice very slow, deep breathing. Gentle breathing helps calm the nervous system and relaxes the blood vessels in the brain.

Be very mindful of what you eat, as certain foods like aged cheese or processed vegetarian items containing MSG can trigger these episodes. Keeping a food journal can help you identify if a specific food is causing your symptoms.

Fluctuating blood sugar levels can sometimes mimic or trigger severe headaches and visual disturbances. Make sure you monitor your blood glucose carefully and consult your physician to differentiate this from diabetic eye issues.

Ocular migraines can be quite frightening when your vision gets blurry. Resting with your eyes closed in a completely dark room is usually the best initial step.

Haan yaar, screen time badhne se bhi ye visual disturbances ho sakti hain na. Phone aur laptop se thoda break lo aur aakhon ko thandak do. But haan, doctor ko dikhana sabse zaroori hai.
