How to treat non diabetic hyperglycemia?

My blood sugar levels have been a bit high lately, even though I'm not diabetic. The doctor called it non-diabetic hyperglycemia and suggested changes in diet. What are the usual ways to treat this condition?

When my sugar levels spiked without having diabetes, I had to temporarily say goodbye to my beloved evening samosas and sweets! It was tough, but switching to low-glycemic snacks and salads really helped bring the numbers down.

Non-diabetic hyperglycemia can be a sign of an underlying infection, high stress, or hormonal imbalance. You must get a comprehensive medical evaluation to find the exact trigger rather than trying to self-manage this.

In the clinic, we often see temporary high blood sugar from certain medications like steroids or extreme physical stress. It is best to monitor your fasting and post-prandial levels for a few days and show the log to your physician.

My teenager had elevated blood sugar during a severe viral fever. We made sure she stayed hydrated with plenty of water and avoided sugary energy drinks. Please consult your pediatrician or family doctor to handle this safely.

I had high sugar levels last month due to heavy medication I was taking for another issue. Once my doctor adjusted that medication and I increased my daily water intake, the sugar levels returned to normal. Get your doctor to review your current prescriptions.
