How to treat non-alcoholic fatty liver?

I recently found out I have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. My doctor said it's not very serious yet, but I need to manage it. What are the general ways people treat non-alcoholic fatty liver to prevent it from getting worse?

I was just reading up on this because my colleague got diagnosed. Apparently, there is no specific medicine for non-alcoholic fatty liver, and it is almost entirely managed by modifying your diet and reducing weight. Quite fascinating how much our food choices affect the liver!

Reversing fatty liver doesn't require expensive gym memberships or exotic diet foods. Just start walking daily in a public park for free and replace processed items with cheap local seasonal vegetables and whole grains.

Having thyroid issues makes my metabolism slow, which puts me at a higher risk for fatty liver too. I get my thyroid and liver function tests done every six months and strictly follow my endocrinologist's dietary advice.

Please go to a proper hospital and consult a gastroenterologist instead of trying random detox drinks. My doctor clearly explained that those commercial liver detoxes can actually do more harm than good to an already stressed liver.

I ignored my initial fatty liver reports years ago, thinking it was just a minor issue, and it progressed to a more severe stage. Please take this as a serious wake-up call to change your lifestyle and get regular doctor checkups.

Beta, don't worry too much. In our times we used to eat simple home-cooked meals and walk everywhere, which kept our liver healthy. Just reduce your outside oily food, eat simple dal-roti, and you will see a big improvement.
