How to treat lower back pain and spasms?

For the past few months, I've been getting really bad lower back pain, and sometimes it just spasms suddenly. It's making it hard to even sit for long. What are some effective ways to treat this kind of lower back pain and spasms?

Haan, back spasm is the worst thing ever, hilna bhi mushkil ho jata hai. First thing is don't try any heavy stretching right now na. Just lie down on a flat surface and use a hot water bag for 15 minutes, it really relaxes the tight muscles.

I had severe spasms last year and what worked for me was strict bed rest for the first 24 hours followed by very gentle walking. Don't sit on soft sofas as they curve your spine and make it worse. If the pain shoots down your leg, go straight to an orthopaedic doctor instead of self-treating.

Beta, at this age, I have realized that back pain is often our body telling us to slow down. Don't worry, it gets better with time and proper rest. Just keep your back straight when you sit and drink warm water throughout the day to help muscle recovery.

I completely understand how depressing it feels when you can't even bend to pick up a spoon. It makes you feel so helpless and anxious about the future. Just take it one day at a time, your body will heal and this phase will pass.

Honestly, the first time I got a back spasm I thought I slipped a disc and would never walk normally again. But my doctor reassured me that muscles just tighten up to protect the area. With some basic muscle relaxants he prescribed and three days of rest, I was totally fine.

While home remedies like ice packs or local pain relief gels can help ease the initial spasm, you really need a proper diagnosis. A doctor can check if it's just muscular strain or something related to your spine. Please visit a physiotherapist before starting any self-directed exercise program.

I completely agree with using heat therapy for spasms. Also, try sleeping with a pillow under your knees, it instantly relieves the pressure on your lower back.
