How to treat eye pain at home?

After working long hours on the computer, my eyes often ache and feel strained. Sometimes it's a dull pain, other times it's quite sharp. What can I do at home to relieve this eye pain?

Please be very careful with your eyes. If you have any sudden vision changes, severe pain, or redness, do not try any home remedies and see an eye doctor immediately to prevent any serious damage.

I once ignored mild eye pain and tried putting rose water, which led to a severe corneal infection. Please don't put anything inside your eyes without a proper prescription from an ophthalmologist.

My daughter gets eye strain from online classes. I make her place clean, damp, cool cotton pads over her closed eyes for 10 minutes every evening, which really helps soothe the tiredness naturally.

Practicing gentle palming exercises—rubbing your hands together to generate warmth and placing them over closed eyes—helps relax the optic nerves. Do this for a few minutes daily to relieve computer strain.

Sometimes high blood pressure or eye pressure can cause a dull ache behind the eyes. It is very important to get your pressure checked regularly by a doctor rather than just resting at home.

Eating foods rich in Vitamin A, like carrots and green leafy vegetables, is very beneficial for overall eye health. For mild strain, just rest your eyes and avoid looking at mobile screens after sunset.
