How to treat elbow tendon pain?

I've been having this persistent pain on the outside of my elbow for weeks now, especially when I lift things or twist my arm. My physiotherapist said it's probably tendonitis. What's the best way to treat elbow tendon pain?

Tendon pain takes time to heal because of low blood supply to the tendons. Apply a topical anti-inflammatory gel thrice daily and wear a tennis elbow clasp brace just below the elbow joint to relieve the tension.

Physiotherapy sessions can get quite expensive if you go long-term. Try searching for basic eccentric tendon strengthening exercises online first, and do them at home with a very light water bottle before spending on heavy clinic fees.

A warm compress of Epsom salt water can help relax the tight muscles around the elbow. But if you feel any sudden numbness in your fingers or severe sharp pain, please consult a specialist immediately.

My son developed bad tendon pain from playing tennis hours everyday. We made him take a complete break for two weeks and applied ice packs daily. Now he always warms up properly before any physical activity.

Don't just keep massaging it blindly or doing random stretches you see online, as you might worsen the tendon micro-tears. Get a proper clinical assessment to see if it is tennis elbow or golfer's elbow.

Apply some warm sesame oil mixed with a little camphor to the painful area and wrap it with a soft cotton cloth. Avoid lifting heavy buckets or putting too much sudden pressure on that arm.

Tendonitis won't go away if you keep stressing the joint. Stop lifting heavy objects, get an elbow strap to take the load off, and see a sports physiotherapist for dry needling or ultrasound therapy.

My orthopedist explained that tendons heal through load management, not just complete rest. He had me do slow, controlled eccentric wrist curls with a 1 kg dumbbell and strictly advised against getting steroid injections too early.
