How to treat eczema on tattoo?

I got a new tattoo a few months ago, and now the skin around it, and even a bit on the tattoo itself, has become very dry, itchy, and red, like eczema. It's messing with the design. How can I treat eczema on a tattoo without damaging it?

Oh god, my new tattoo is itching so badly and getting red bumps. Has anyone else gone through this right after getting inked? I am so worried that the ink will fade if I apply any strong eczema creams.

Do not scratch it at all or you will ruin the tattoo. Show it to your tattoo artist or a skin doctor.

Stay calm and don't stress, our body has a beautiful way of healing itself when we take care. Keep the area clean, think positive thoughts, and let it heal naturally without rushing into too many chemical products.

These modern tattoos can sometimes react badly with the skin. You can apply a very thin layer of pure coconut oil to keep it moist, but make sure not to scrub the area. Avoid using heavy chemical lotions on it.

Just use a simple fragrance-free moisturizer like Cetaphil or white petrolatum. Avoid tight clothing over the tattoo so there is no friction. It is a simple issue of skin irritation, just keep it clean and it should settle.

When my tattoo flared up with eczema, I only used a very basic baby lotion that had no scent. I didn't want to risk any medicated creams without asking my artist first. It took about two weeks to fully calm down.
