How to treat ear pain from acid reflux?

I've been dealing with acid reflux for a while, and lately, I've noticed a nagging pain in my ear too. My friend said it could be related to the reflux. How can one treat ear pain that might be caused by acid reflux?

Look, the issue is not in your ear, it's in your stomach. Stop eating heavy, spicy dinners late at night and sleeping immediately. Elevate your head with an extra pillow and see a doctor to get your acidity under control first.

A simple practical thing that worked for my father is raising the head of the bed by putting a couple of bricks under the front legs. This prevents the stomach acid from traveling up to the throat and ears at night. Also, try keeping a gap of 3 hours between dinner and bedtime.

I didn't know acid reflux could actually cause ear pain, I thought it was just gas. Is it normal to also feel a bit of a sore throat and hoarse voice in the morning along with this earache?

My ENT explained that stomach acid can travel up the esophagus and irritate the Eustachian tube, causing referred ear pain. He advised taking prescribed antacids before breakfast and strictly avoiding caffeine, citrus fruits, and carbonated drinks to heal the lining.

Acidity can cause referred pain to the ears because of shared nerves. Just like I have to do regular tests for my thyroid, you should consult a doctor to get your acid reflux properly diagnosed and treated. Don't let chronic inflammation go unchecked.

It must be really uncomfortable to feel that acid burning all the way up to your throat and ears. Try sipping some cold milk or warm water, and avoid lying down for at least two hours after eating. Take care.
