How to treat dengue virus?

My neighbor recently had dengue and it was quite serious. With the monsoon season coming, I'm concerned about how to identify and treat dengue virus if someone in my family gets it. What are the typical treatment protocols?

With dengue, you cannot take any chances at home. Just like I have to do regular blood tests for my thyroid levels, dengue requires daily platelet count monitoring as prescribed by the doctor. Please make sure you are getting the blood tests done exactly when the doctor tells you to.

Please go to a hospital immediately if your fever is very high or if you feel extremely weak. When I had dengue, my platelets dropped dangerously low overnight and I had to be rushed to the ICU because I delayed medical help. It is not something you should try to treat with self-medication.

I know how terrifying it is when platelet counts start falling. Along with the doctor's medicines, giving papaya leaf extract and fresh goat milk really helped my family members recover their strength quickly. Just make sure the papaya juice is prepared hygienically at home.

Dengue makes the body extremely weak, and it takes weeks to recover fully. Since I manage PCOS, I know how easily body balance gets disrupted, so I suggest just taking complete bed rest and drinking lots of fluids like coconut water. Don't push yourself to do any physical work right now, let your body rest.

While your body fights the virus under medical supervision, gentle deep breathing or Bhramari pranayama can help calm the nervous system and manage the intense body aches. Do not do any physical yoga postures right now; just rest quietly and breathe deeply to assist your natural healing.

To manage dengue recovery, I highly recommend tracking your daily fluid intake on an app to make sure you are hitting at least 3 liters. Keep a log of your body temperature and paracetamol dosage timings in your phone notes so you can share exact data with your doctor during visits.

Dengue treatment can get very expensive if you end up in a private hospital emergency. It is wiser to get the regular CBC and platelet tests done from a local lab early, which costs around 300 to 500 rupees, and consult a general physician immediately to avoid sudden hospitalization costs later.

Dengue fever is really bad this season, haan na. My neighbor was so sick last month and could barely stand up. Just stick to light khichdi, drink plenty of warm water, and take the medicines exactly as the doc says. Don't worry, proper rest is the main key, ho na.
