How to treat a severe migraine headache?

I completely understand the terrible pain and how it makes you feel like locking yourself in a dark room and crying. It is so exhausting, but please know that this phase will pass soon.

If this is a new type of severe headache or if you have visual disturbances, please consult a neurologist. It is important to rule out other issues before self-managing with painkillers.

At this point, even a bright light feels like a personal attack. I just turn off all the lights, put a cold cloth on my forehead, and tell my family to pretend I don't exist for a few hours.

I used to get horrible attacks in my younger days. With age, I realized keeping a fixed sleep schedule and avoiding skipped meals is the best way to prevent them from starting.

Honestly, regular painkillers don't touch a real migraine. My doctor prescribed me specific triptan tablets, and taking one right at the start of the headache is the only thing that works for me.

Instead of buying expensive headache balms or random online devices, it is much cheaper to visit a government hospital specialist once and get a proper prescription for SOS migraine medicines.

Yaar, a migraine actually ruins your entire day completely. I usually put a cold ice pack on the back of my neck and drink black coffee, sometimes the caffeine helps to ease the pressure.

I get these during my periods and it is so painful. I find that keeping myself hydrated and sniffing a little lavender oil helps calm down the nausea that comes with the headache.

Don't try to power through your office work with a migraine as it will only make it worse and last longer. Take half a day off, sit in a quiet room, and let the medicine do its job.
