How to test for thyroid eye disease?

I have an overactive thyroid, and sometimes my eyes feel very dry and push out a little. My endocrinologist mentioned something about thyroid eye disease. What kind of tests are done to confirm this?

Haan, agar aankhein thodi bahar ko lag rahi hain ya dryness ho rahi hai, to ignore mat karna. Iske liye ophthalmologist ke paas jana padta hai na. Woh special vision tests aur zarurat padne par CT scan kar ke check karenge.

Using cold compresses can help soothe dry and puffy eyes, but thyroid eye disease needs medical monitoring. You must see an eye specialist who will measure your eye movements and check for any swelling behind the eyes.

I kept checking my eyes in the mirror every hour thinking they looked bulged due to my thyroid. Please don't stress like I did. Just visit an eye doctor; they have special tools to measure eye protrusion very accurately and ease your mind.

For thyroid eye disease, an ophthalmologist will check your eye alignment, eyelid retraction, and pressure inside the eyes. They might also order an MRI or CT scan of the eye sockets. It's a standard clinical process, so do get an appointment booked.

My mom faced this because of her hyperthyroidism. Her eyes were constantly watering and looked red. We took her to an eye doctor who specializes in squint and orbit issues, and they did a few simple vision and eye-muscle tests to diagnose it.

Please don't worry. Just schedule a visit with an eye specialist. They will do a thorough physical exam of your eyes and guide you on the next steps.

Along with managing your thyroid levels, keeping your blood pressure under control is very important for overall vascular and eye health. Make sure to visit an eye specialist for an orbital exam to check for any inflammation behind your eyes.
