How to test for a thyroid disorder?

My sister was recently diagnosed with a thyroid issue, and I've been feeling unusually tired and gaining weight lately. Are there specific tests I should ask my doctor for to check if I have a thyroid disorder too?

Honestly, the best way to test for thyroid is not by Googling your symptoms till you're convinced you have everything from thyroid to alien invasion! Just go to a proper doctor, they'll order a simple blood test. It's usually TSH, T3, T4. Super straightforward, like ordering a pizza, but for your health!

For something like this, always go to a reputed hospital or a good endocrinologist. They will do a complete thyroid panel which includes TSH, Free T3, and Free T4. Don't just ask for 'a thyroid test', be clear you want a full check-up if you have symptoms. It's important to get it right.

Arey, thyroid test toh simple hota hai ho na. Blood test hi karana padta hai. Doc ko bolo na ki you suspect thyroid, they will tell you which tests to do. Don't worry too much, many people have it nowadays.

I was also wondering the same! Do they check for specific symptoms first or just do a general blood test? Like, I've been feeling so tired and gaining weight, is that a sign? Has anyone else felt this before getting tested?

First, get your blood tests done as others said. If it's confirmed, then alongside medication (if prescribed), doctors often suggest light exercise. Even a brisk 30-min walk daily helps manage symptoms like fatigue and weight. But def check with your doc first!

Mere ghar pe bhi kuch logo ko thyroid ka problem hai. Usually, doctors just do a simple blood test for TSH. While some diet changes and yoga can help, if you really suspect it, you must go to the doctor. Don't delay, hormones are delicate.

Just get a blood test done. It's called a Thyroid Function Test (TFT). Your GP can order it. Measures TSH primarily, and T3/T4 if TSH is off. Don't overthink it, just schedule an appointment.

Please, for serious things like thyroid, don't trust any random tips you read online. Go to an actual doctor. They will order the correct blood tests and diagnose properly. Internet remedies can be dangerous if you self-diagnose and self-treat, especially with hormones involved.
