How to test arthritis at home?

My hands and knees feel very stiff and painful, especially in the mornings. My neighbour, who has arthritis, suggested I might have it too. Are there any simple ways to test for arthritis at home before I visit a doctor?

Honestly, you can't 'test' for arthritis at home like a blood sugar test. You can only observe your symptoms: is there stiffness in the morning for a long time? Are your joints swollen and red? Does the pain get worse with activity? Note all this down, it'll save time and maybe some money at the doctor's visit when they ask about your symptoms. Then they'll recommend blood tests and X-rays.

You can track your symptoms with a health app – like when the pain starts, how long it lasts, which joints are affected, and if there's swelling. This data can be really helpful for a doctor. But actual diagnosis needs blood tests (like ESR, CRP) and X-rays, which you can't do at home. So, track and then consult a specialist.

Look, you can't actually 'test' for arthritis at home. You can only monitor your symptoms. Are your joints hurting, stiff, or swollen? Do they click? Is it worse in the morning? Write it all down. Then go to a doctor, they'll do the proper blood tests and X-rays to figure out what type of arthritis it is. Don't self-diagnose from home.

You can't really 'test' for it, but you can pay attention to how your joints feel during and after movement. If walking or exercise causes persistent pain, stiffness, or swelling that lasts, that's a sign. Try to observe which joints are affected, if it's symmetrical, and how long morning stiffness lasts. This detailed observation is what you'd tell a doctor, who would then order the actual medical tests.

Hey, don't stress too much trying to diagnose this yourself! There's no actual 'at-home test' for arthritis like a pregnancy test. You can just observe your body for symptoms like stiff joints, pain, swelling, or if you feel weak. Note down everything you feel, and then take all that info to a doctor. They'll do the proper blood tests and X-rays to really know.

My family often says to listen to your body, but for something like arthritis, it's not something you can truly test at home. You can notice if your joints are stiff, especially in the mornings, or if they are swollen and painful. This information is good for the doctor. But for a real diagnosis, you need blood tests and imaging from a proper specialist. Don't delay seeing one.
