How to tell your boss you have a migraine?

I often get severe migraines that make it impossible to work, and I need to take the day off. I feel awkward always telling my boss, especially if it happens frequently. What's the best way to inform my boss that I have a migraine and won't be able to come in?

Haan na, it's always awkward to tell your boss you can't come in. Just send a clear, concise email or message. Say 'I woke up with a severe migraine and won't be able to work today. I'll monitor my condition and update you if I can come in later or tomorrow.' Don't over-explain, just be professional.

You need to be direct and clear, just like managing my diet. Send a message saying you're suffering from a migraine and need to take the day off. Mention you'll be checking emails periodically if you can, but generally, you'll be resting. Keep it simple and focused on your health, don't get into too much detail.

It's important to prioritize your health, just like a workout. A simple message like, 'I'm experiencing a severe migraine and won't be able to perform my duties today. I'll be taking a sick day to recover.' If you have urgent tasks, mention you'll try to delegate or catch up when you're feeling better. No need for a long explanation.

Don't overthink it or try to find some fancy way. Just state it plainly and professionally. 'I need to inform you that I've woken up with a severe migraine and won't be able to come to work today. I will keep you updated on my recovery.' No need to invent symptoms or medical details, keep it factual. A doctor's note is always good if they ask later.

Ah, the joys of getting older and having your body betray you! Just send a message early in the morning saying, 'Bad migraine hitting today, will need to take a sick day. Will keep an eye on important emails if I can, but otherwise resting up.' They probably get it, everyone knows someone who gets migraines.

Just like how I wouldn't push through a major injury at the gym, you shouldn't push through a migraine. A quick and clear message is best: 'Hi [Boss's Name], I'm experiencing a migraine and won't be able to come in today. I'll catch up as soon as I feel better.' No need to elaborate, focus on your recovery.
