How to tell if you have throat cancer?

My uncle has been having a persistent sore throat and difficulty swallowing for a few months now, and he's also lost weight. We are really concerned it might be throat cancer. What are the typical signs?

If you have a persistent sore throat, or hoarseness that doesn't go away for weeks, it's not just a common cold. Difficulty swallowing, a lump in your throat, or unexplained weight loss are also major red flags. Don't self-medicate, just go to an ENT specialist. It's a simple consultation that can save you a lot of trouble later.

Between work and kids, my throat is always hoarse, I just thought it was my normal state, haha! But if you have a sore throat that just won't quit for weeks, or find it hard to swallow, that's not just 'tired mom voice.' Get it checked. Seriously, don't let lack of sleep stop you from seeing a doc about serious stuff.

Oh god, this is another one that makes me super anxious! Any persistent sore throat makes me think the worst. But if you have a sore throat that lasts longer than two weeks, difficulty swallowing, a constant cough, or a lump in your neck, please go to the doctor immediately. It's scary, but it's important to get it checked out quickly.

I sometimes get a persistent cough, and it always makes me nervous. How long is too long for a sore throat or hoarseness before you really need to worry? Did anyone else have these symptoms and it turned out to be something less serious?

Hey, it's always good to be aware. If you're having a sore throat that just won't go away, or your voice is always hoarse for weeks, that's not normal. Also, if swallowing feels difficult, or you feel a lump in your neck, please don't just wait it out. Just book an appointment with an ENT specialist; they can tell you what's going on.

Throat cancer? My throat usually just complains after a karaoke night! 😂 But if your voice has changed permanently, or you're swallowing feels like you're eating sandpaper for weeks, that's more than just a bad cold. Get it checked by a doc, don't just try gargling with saltwater for months!
