How to tell if you have prostate cancer?

My father had some issues with his prostate when he was older, and now I'm starting to worry a bit about myself. I've been getting up to use the washroom more often at night. What symptoms should I be looking out for with prostate cancer?

My uncle ignored frequent urination and difficulty emptying his bladder for too long, thinking it was just old age. It turned out to be prostate cancer, and by then, it was more advanced. Please, for any persistent urinary issues, especially for men over 50, see a urologist immediately. Early detection is vital.

For prostate cancer, the symptoms can be similar to other prostate issues like BPH. Look for frequent urination, especially at night, weak or interrupted urine flow, blood in urine or semen, and pain in the pelvic area or back. If you have these, go to a good urologist. Don't hesitate to ask for a PSA test and a digital rectal exam.

I'm just researching this for a project, but it seems like the symptoms can be really subtle or easily confused with other things, especially with age. Is it true that many men don't even know they have it until it's more advanced? It sounds quite scary.

Honestly, at my age, I'm just happy if I get to sleep through the night without a pee break, haha! But if you're constantly running to the bathroom, and the flow is weak, that's not just being 'sleep deprived.' Time to let the doc check if the prostate is playing games. Don't be a hero!

I went through this. My main issues were a constant urge to urinate, especially at night, and a very weak flow. I also had some discomfort in my lower back. The doctor recommended a PSA test and a biopsy confirmed it. Don't delay seeing a doctor if you have these symptoms, particularly if you are older.

As working professionals, we often push off health checks. But for prostate cancer, early signs matter, especially for men over 50. If you notice changes in urination, like needing to go often or a weak stream, schedule a urologist visit. A quick check-up is better than future complications. Make time for your health.
