How to tell if you have gum disease?

My gums bleed a little when I brush sometimes, and my breath isn't always fresh. I'm wondering if I have gum disease. What are the typical signs to look for?

Hey, don't stress too much about it! If your gums bleed a little bit when you brush hard, it might just be minor irritation. But if they are always red, swollen, or if you have bad breath that won't go away, just show it to a dentist once. It's a very simple checkup.

Please don't start doing oil pulling or putting random spices on your teeth after reading online advice. Bleeding gums and loose teeth are serious signs of periodontal issues that need actual scaling and medical treatment. Go to a registered dentist and get a proper diagnosis.

I totally get it, having painful or bleeding gums makes even eating your favorite food so miserable. If your gums look like they are pulling away from your teeth or feel very tender, it is likely early gum disease. It can be quite uncomfortable, so please take care and see a dentist soon.

I woke up with a weird metallic taste and bleeding gums this morning, probably because I have been surviving on coffee and skipping night brushing. If your gums are puffy and bleeding every time you spit, your mouth is screaming for help. Don't be lazy like me, go see a dentist.

When biting into a crisp apple starts leaving blood marks, you know your gums are in trouble! If you can't enjoy your food because of sore, bleeding gums, it's a clear sign of gum disease. Get it treated quickly so you can go back to eating without any pain.

I can only share what happened to me; I noticed my teeth started looking longer because my gums were actually receding. I had no real pain, just some sensitivity to cold water, which turned out to be early gingivitis. I immediately went to my family dentist, and a professional cleaning fixed it.

Look, if your gums are swollen and bleeding daily, it is not something you ignore or try to fix with home pastes. It is gum disease, plain and simple. Go to a good dental clinic, get a proper cleanup done, and start flossing daily. Take care of your health.

I used to ignore my gums bleeding while brushing, thinking I was just pressing too hard. But my roommate told me it's actually the first sign of gum infection, especially if you get bad breath often. Got a cheap dental cleanup done at our college clinic and it completely stopped.
