How to tell if you are sleep deprived?

I've been really busy with work and barely sleeping 4-5 hours a night for weeks now. I feel constantly exhausted and can't focus. How can I tell if I am truly sleep-deprived and if it's seriously affecting my health?

If you are trying to unlock your front door with your car keys or putting salt in your morning tea, you are definitely sleep deprived! Don't worry, a solid 8-hour sleep over the weekend will reset your brain cells.

I find myself yawning all afternoon and I can't seem to focus on my books. Does this mean I am sleep deprived even if I sleep for 6 hours? I am a bit new to managing my own schedule.

I totally get it, life can get so busy that we sacrifice our rest. If you feel like your brain is in a constant fog and your eyes feel heavy and dry all day, you are definitely running on low sleep. Please take some time off to rest your body.

I literally just went through this last month due to office stress. I was constantly irritable, had mild headaches every afternoon, and kept craving sugary snacks. I cut down screen time after 10 PM and it made a huge difference to my energy levels.

Please don't take chronic fatigue lightly. I ignored my poor sleep for months until I started getting severe chest tightness and anxiety attacks. If you cannot sleep despite feeling exhausted, please consult a medical doctor.

My dear, if your eyes have dark circles, your memory is slipping, and you feel cold often, your body is crying for rest. Try to drink some warm milk before bed and keep your room dark. A consistent sleep routine works wonders.

Managing PCOS has shown me how sleep deprivation can completely mess up our hormones and insulin levels. If you are waking up tired or having sudden mood swings, it could be lack of deep sleep. I always suggest keeping a sleep log and sharing it with your doctor.

Look, it is simple. If your decision-making is slow, you are snapping at your colleagues, and your gym performance is dropping, you are sleep deprived. Stop scrolling late at night and prioritize your rest.

Bro, if you are falling asleep during a 10 AM lecture or needing three cups of coffee just to get out of bed, you are severely sleep deprived. I have been there during exam season, you just need to fix your sleep cycle.

Your muscles recover when you sleep, so if your workout progress has stalled and you are feeling sore for days, sleep deprivation is likely the culprit. Focus on clean nutrition, avoid caffeine after 4 PM, and target 7-8 hours of quality shut-eye.
