How to tell if tb test is positive or negative?

My colleague got a TB test and it looked like a small red bump. I'm due for one next month for my visa. What are the specific visual cues to determine if a TB skin test is positive or negative after the waiting period?

For the skin test, a doctor or nurse will check your arm after 2-3 days. They measure the size of the raised, hard area. If it's below a certain size, it's usually negative. For blood tests, the lab report will clearly state 'positive' or 'negative'. Always get your doctor to explain the results properly, especially with health conditions like BP, we need clear answers.

For the skin test, a small bump is formed when the substance is injected. After two to three days, if the bump has not grown much or is very small and soft, it indicates a negative result. If it's hard and swollen beyond a certain size, it's positive. The best way is to let the medical professional interpret it for you; don't self-diagnose. It’s important to understand your health clearly.

It's totally normal to feel anxious waiting for test results, especially for something like TB. For the skin test, a healthcare professional will measure the bump on your arm after 48-72 hours. A smaller bump (less than 5mm usually) means negative. For blood tests, the report will simply say 'Positive' or 'Negative'. Just wait for the official word, don't overthink it!

When you get your TB test done, especially at a good hospital, the doctors or nurses are very clear about the results. For the skin test, they check the swelling size after a couple of days. If it's a blood test, the lab report will explicitly state positive or negative. Don't hesitate to ask your doctor to explain it to you in simple terms until you understand completely.

Going through TB testing can be really stressful, I remember feeling so worried. For the skin test, they measure the bump. If it's a small flat area, it's negative, meaning no reaction. If it's a raised, hard lump above a certain size, it's positive. For the blood test, it's usually written clearly as 'positive' or 'negative' on the report. Just remember, whatever the result, there are ways to manage it, and it's not your fault.

I made the mistake of not getting follow-ups for something else, so trust me, get proper answers for TB tests. For the skin test, if the spot they pricked swells up hard and big after 2-3 days, that's a positive sign. Otherwise, it's negative. The blood test report will just tell you directly. Always, always let the doctor explain.

It's pretty straightforward. For the skin test, a doctor measures the hardened bump (induration) 2-3 days after injection. If it's below a certain threshold (usually 5-10mm depending on risk factors), it's negative. For the IGRA blood test, the report will clearly state 'Positive' or 'Negative'. No ambiguity there, just read the report or ask the doctor.

For the skin test (Mantoux), they'll check the injection site after 48-72 hours. If there's no significant swelling or hardness, it's negative. If there's a firm, raised area above a certain size, it's positive. For blood tests, the report will simply say 'Positive' or 'Negative'. Just get the results and check with your doctor for clarity; they'll explain what it means for you quickly.
