How to tell if someone has a fever without thermometer?

My husband feels warm and is complaining of body aches, but we can't find our thermometer. He says he feels very weak. What are some simple ways to figure out if someone has a fever without using a thermometer?

Oh, I just went through this! My thermometer broke. I checked by feeling my forehead and neck against theirs, and also their chest. If they feel much hotter than you, and are shivering or have body aches, it's probably a fever. Also look for flushed cheeks.

Haan, easy hai! Just put your hand on their forehead, especially if you yourself are feeling normal. Agar garam lage, aur unko bhi thand lag rahi ho ya body pain ho, toh pakka fever hai. Naak bhi garam rehti hai kabhi kabhi.

You can usually tell by touch. Place the back of your hand on their forehead or neck. If it feels significantly warmer than your own skin, and they're also feeling sluggish, shivering, or have a headache, it's a good indicator of fever. Best to get a thermometer soon though.

Just touch their forehead and feel if it's hot. Observe if they are feeling cold or very tired. These are common signs.

For me, even small changes in body feel significant because of my BP. If someone feels very warm to touch, and is also feeling weak or drowsy, it's likely a fever. Make sure they rest and hydrate. But a thermometer is important for accurate reading and to know if it's getting too high.

Without a thermometer, it's tricky, but you can feel their skin, especially forehead and tummy. If they are flushed, feel very warm, and perhaps complain of body aches or feel shivery, it's a good indicator. Give them a light sponge bath to bring the temp down slightly while you arrange for a thermometer.

If you don't have a thermometer, the hand-on-forehead method is the common one. Also, check their cheeks, they might be red. For future, keep a basic digital thermometer at home, they aren't that expensive and are very useful to monitor things accurately.

After years of raising kids, I can tell. Besides the forehead, check if their ears are hot and red. Also, notice if they are breathing faster than usual, or if their eyes look glassy. These are all subtle hints that point to a raised temperature.
