How to tell a migraine from a headache?

I get these really bad headaches sometimes, with throbbing pain and sensitivity to light. My mother says it sounds like a migraine, but I always thought headaches were just headaches. Is there a clear way to know if it's a migraine or just a regular headache?

A standard tension headache usually feels like a tight band around your whole head and is quite manageable. Migraines, on the other hand, are typically throbbing on just one side and often come with extreme sensitivity to light or even nausea. If it is happening very frequently, it's best to consult a physician instead of overusing painkillers.

Does anyone else get this weird blind spot in their eyes right before the pain starts? My head hurts so badly on one side and I feel like throwing up. Is this definitely a migraine or could it be something worse? I am really scared.

Hey, take a deep breath. A regular headache will usually fade with a bit of rest or water, but a migraine really knocks you down and makes even light and sound unbearable. Don't sit in pain, just go into a dark, quiet room right now and relax while we schedule a quick call with a doctor.

Migraine pain has a very deep, pulsing rhythm that is deeply affected by stress and sinus blockages. When I feel that intense one-sided throbbing starting, I immediately sit in a quiet corner and practice slow Nadi Shodhana pranayama. It really helps calm the nervous system, but do seek medical advice if the pain is unbearable.

Our bodies often reflect the inner turbulence and stress we carry. A migraine is usually a loud signal from your body to slow down and rest. Stay positive, keep your mind calm, and let yourself heal with proper medical care and peaceful thoughts.

For regular head pain, putting a cold compress on your forehead or drinking warm ginger tea can bring quick relief. But if you are experiencing severe, blinding pain with vomiting or slurred speech, please don't rely on home remedies. Go straight to a clinic and get it checked by a proper doctor.

Actually, migraine is a different level of torture, yaar. Normal headache toh tea break lene se thik ho jata hai, but migraine feels like someone is hammering a nail inside one side of your brain. If you are sensitive to light and phone screens, it's definitely a migraine, so just go sleep.

In our household, we always treat a simple headache by applying a thin paste of sandalwood on the forehead or drinking warm milk with nutmeg. However, if the pain is severe, one-sided, and doesn't go away for days, it is a migraine. You must consult a doctor and not ignore it.

The key differentiator is that migraines are neurological events often accompanied by sensory disturbances like auras, tingling, or nausea, whereas tension headaches are just muscle contraction pain. Self-diagnosing can be tricky because treatment lines are totally different. It is highly recommended to see a neurologist for a proper diagnosis.

Honestly, I realized it was a migraine when even the smell of my favourite hot samosas made me feel super nauseous instead of happy. A normal headache never stops me from eating, but a migraine completely destroys my appetite and makes me crave absolute darkness.
