How to tape lower back pain?

I've had lower back pain for a while, and my physio suggested taping. How do I properly tape my lower back to get some support and pain relief? Is there a specific way to apply the tape?

I used to panic every time my lower back flared up, thinking I had slipped a disc. But my doctor showed me how to apply two vertical strips of kinesiology tape on either side of the spine and one horizontal strip across the pain point. It really helps support the muscles, so don't worry, you will be fine!

I completely understand how terrifying lower back pain can be; it makes you feel like you won't even be able to stand up tomorrow. It is totally okay to feel anxious about this. Try taping it lightly to give your mind some peace of mind, but do consult a doctor if the pain is shooting down your leg.

Beta, along with the tape, try applying some warm sesame oil mixed with garlic on your back. It relieves the wind and stiffness in the joints. Ask someone to apply the tape gently while you bend forward slightly, and keep yourself warm.

In my fifty years of office work, back aches have come and gone many times. Taping is a very good way to keep the muscles warm and supported while you work. Don't get disheartened by this pain; just rest for a couple of days and it will pass.

Ah, the joys of turning forty-five where just sneezing can throw your back out! I have my wife stick these colorful kinesiology tapes on my back in an 'H' shape. It makes me look like an Olympic athlete even though I'm just walking to the fridge, but hey, it works!

My back behaves like a grumpy old grandfather who hates cold water. I just slap some of those heat patches or kinesiology tapes back there and pretend everything is fine. Try it, at least the tape holds your posture up so you don't slouch like a potato!

Taping is excellent for stabilizing the lumbar region. I usually apply two vertical strips on the erector spinae muscles with about 50% stretch. If your doc says it's okay, try doing some light core-strengthening exercises or walking, as movement is actually better than complete bed rest.

For lower back taping, you really need a partner to apply it properly. Stand and bend slightly forward, then have them place two parallel strips of KT tape along your spine, and one decompression strip horizontally over the main painful spot. It works best if you shave the area first.

Hey! I get terrible back pain during my periods and taping has been a lifesaver. I get my sister to stick a horizontal strip of KT tape on my lower back with quite a bit of stretch in the middle. It gives an instant feeling of support, definitely try it!

I am always so scared that if I apply the tape with too much stretch, it will compress my spine or cause some nerve damage. Please make sure you don't stretch the ends of the tape at all, just stick them flat. Be very careful and I hope you feel better soon!
