How to take thyroid medication correctly?

I have been taking thyroid medication for many years, but sometimes I feel like it's not working as effectively. My neighbor said there are specific ways to take it to ensure it's absorbed properly. What's the correct way to take thyroid medication for the best results?

It is quite simple: take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with plain water. Do not have tea, coffee, or breakfast for at least 45 minutes after. If you take calcium or iron tablets, keep a gap of at least 4 hours, otherwise the thyroid medication won't absorb.

I totally get it, remembering to take a pill on an empty stomach every single morning can feel like such a chore at first. But once you make it a habit, it becomes second nature. Just hang in there, your body will thank you for being consistent.

Ah, the joys of getting older and having a pill cabinet! I have to set an alarm at 6 AM just to swallow my thyroid tablet and then I go back to sleep. It is the only way I can guarantee an empty stomach before my morning chai demands attention.

My mom has thyroid and she literally fights with me if I try to give her tea before her one-hour gap is done, haha! But yeah, taking it early morning with plain water is the correct way, she has been doing it for years.

Please take your tablet with a full glass of water daily in the morning before breakfast. Following this routine consistently is very important for your health.

When I had my checkup at Kokilaben Hospital, my endocrinologist clearly told me that consistency is key. Taking it at different times every day will mess up your TSH levels. Ask your doctor clearly about the exact timing that fits your schedule.

Hey, don't stress too much about the exact minute! Just keep the pill box right next to your bed so you can pop it the moment you wake up. Then by the time you brush your teeth and get ready, your 30-40 minutes gap is easily done.
