How to take fmla for mental health?

My stress levels at work have been through the roof, and it's starting to affect my health badly. My therapist suggested I look into FMLA for mental health. How can I go about taking FMLA for mental health leave?

I totally get it, mental exhaustion is so real and it completely drains you. Please don't feel guilty about needing this break. You just need your doctor or therapist to fill out the medical certification forms for your HR department. Take it one step at a time, your health always comes first.

Honestly, when my stress got out of hand, I tried yoga, herbal teas, and everything under the sun, but nothing worked like taking a proper break. For FMLA, you need to get a clear certificate from a registered therapist or psychiatrist stating why you need time off. Then submit it directly to your HR without oversharing unnecessary personal details with your immediate manager.

In our times, we never talked about mental health breaks and just kept suffering silently, which was a big mistake. Now that there are proper policies like FMLA, you must use them if your doctor advises. Go talk to your doctor, get the medical paperwork signed, and hand it to your company. It is a very normal and legal process, beta.

Agreed, taking time off for your mental peace is extremely important. Just make sure your psychiatrist clearly mentions the duration of leave you need on the FMLA form so HR doesn't delay the approval.

I had to learn this the hard way when my work stress started pushing my blood pressure to dangerous levels. Along with applying for FMLA through your doctor's recommendation, please use that off-time to get a full health checkup done and fix your sleep routine. It really helps bring the stress levels down.
