How to take a mental health day?

I've been feeling really overwhelmed and stressed with work lately, and feel like I need a break. Someone told me about taking a 'mental health day'. How exactly do you do that, and what should one do on such a day?

Honestly, just switch off your phone and sleep in, bro. I literally tell my manager I have a personal emergency and take the day off. No checking emails or Teams chats, just order some good food and play video games the whole day.

My daughter was feeling so overwhelmed with her college exams last month, so we planned a proper rest day. I made sure she didn't touch her books and we just sat together, watched some comedy shows, and had light home-cooked meals. Sometimes you just need to step back and let your mind completely rest.

Treat yourself to a nice warm bath and watch your favorite movie! 🍿 I love putting on a face mask and doing some self-care at home. Just enjoy your own company and eat some delicious food, you deserve this break! ✨

I just bunk my morning lectures and sleep till 1 PM, no cap. I spend the afternoon listening to my favorite playlist and maybe go out for a cheap cutting chai with one close friend. You don't need any fancy plan, just do absolutely nothing for a day.

If you are taking these breaks often and still feeling burnt out, please consult a good doctor. I went to a clinical psychologist at a reputed hospital nearby and she gave me proper ways to manage my work anxiety. Taking a day off is good, but getting professional guidance is much better.

I totally get it, sometimes everything just gets too loud and you need a pause button. Don't feel guilty about taking a day for yourself because your peace of mind is most important. Just do whatever makes your heart feel lighter today.

Step 1: Put your phone on 'Do Not Disturb'. Step 2: Lie down like a potato. If your boss calls, pretend you are in a tunnel with no network. Seriously, the world won't end if you take one day off to preserve your sanity!

Haan yaara, bilkul chill karo ek din. Kaam toh chalta rahega life bhar, par thoda break lena bhi zaroori hai na. Just go for a long drive or sleep without setting any alarms, mind ekdum fresh ho jayega.

Sometimes work pressure is too much, ho na? I also take a day off quietly, switch off my internet, and just cook some nice comfort food. It is so important to listen to your mind and take a break, haan na, otherwise we will go crazy.

You don't need to spend money on expensive staycations or therapy sessions to de-stress. Just take a casual sick leave, stay at home, and clean your room or read a book. Saving that money also gives its own peace of mind, trust me.

Just sit in silence for a few minutes in the morning and do some light breathing. Let all the negative thoughts go and just be thankful for this beautiful life. Spend some time with plants or listen to peaceful music, it really heals your soul from within.

For me, a mental health day is all about maintaining my routine without the work stress. I go for a quiet walk in the park, keep my meals very simple, and monitor my blood sugar closely because stress spikes it. Don't use a free day as an excuse to eat sweet comfort food, that actually makes you feel more tired.
