When I was a teen, I just wanted my parents to listen to me without immediately giving a lecture or solution. Just create a safe space where they can vent about school or friends without the fear of being judged or punished.

They are going through a lot of physical and social changes, so we need to be their anchor, not another source of pressure. Let them know that their academic grades don't define their worth. Just hold their back and stay patient with their mood swings.

Our family pediatrician pointed out that hormonal changes combined with social media pressure often trigger anxiety in teens. The doctor advised limiting screen time strictly after 9 PM and encouraging outdoor team sports. If symptoms like withdrawal or low mood persist, professional adolescent counseling is highly recommended.

Try to spend some quality time together as a family by taking a walk or cooking a meal together in the kitchen. But if you notice your child is withdrawing from friends, eating very poorly, or looking constantly sad, please do not wait. Take them to a qualified child psychologist immediately.

Just like how I manage my high BP through a strict daily routine and medical checkups, teenage mental health also needs structure. Ensure they get 8 hours of sleep and regular physical activity to keep their stress hormones low. Keep a close eye on their behavior changes.

I totally get it, parenting a teenager today is incredibly challenging with all the digital distractions and peer pressure. It is so easy for them to feel isolated. Just being there, offering a warm hug, and saying 'I am here for you' can make a world of difference to them.
