How to support someone with mental health issues?

Someone I care about has been struggling with their mental health for a while, and it breaks my heart to see them like this. I want to be a good support system. How can I best support someone with mental health issues?

I want to help my friend who seems very depressed, but I don't know if I should keep messaging them or give them space. I don't want to irritate them, but I also want them to know I care. What is the right balance?

I used to think mental health issues were rare and got terrified when my cousin faced severe panic attacks. But after we visited a good doctor, I realized it is just like any other physical illness that can be treated. Just reassure them that they will be completely fine.

I am so tired myself that I can barely keep my eyes open, but honestly, just offering to sit with them and eat cold pizza in silence is a great way to support. You don't have to give grand speeches, just your sleepy, silent company is enough.

Stop telling them to 'just stay happy' or 'go for a run,' it doesn't work that way. Treat their struggle seriously and help them book an appointment with a counselor. Just be a reliable, practical support system without lecturing them.

In our times, people didn't talk about these things, but I have seen how much suffering it causes if ignored. Listen to them with an open heart and without judging or calling them weak. Encouraging them to see a professional therapist early is the best support you can give.

Unhe feel karao ki woh akele nahi hain is ladai mein, haan. Kabhi kabhi bas unhe dhabe par chai pilane le jao taaki unka mind thoda change ho sake na. Choti choti cheezein hi bahut madad karti hain aise time par.

Managing my diabetes taught me that physical and mental health are deeply connected. Encourage them to eat timely, balanced meals and sleep on schedule, as fluctuations in physical health can trigger more anxiety. Always suggest they take professional guidance.
